Hello! You may notice that all images from the game Idolatry 3000 are hosted on this website. It’s nice to meet you. Now that you’re here, you’ll be rewarded with a bit of behind the scenes information.
Concept, development and writing was a little under a month. My main inspirations for this game included the Idolm@ster franchise, Princess Maker 2, and Consumer Softproducts’ signature art direction. The character models in the original Idolm@ster arcade games had a janky, early CG charm that managed to be both uncanny and appealing, so I leaned into that further with the character designs. Of course, my personal limitations as a novice to CGI helped... The gameplay was basically a whittled down version of Princess Maker 2's "spreadsheet" gameplay and lack of tutorials/context. You're expected to play the game more than once to get to know the characters, figure out how the scoring works and discover both endings.
Here are some unused images from the early concepts. The more abstract ones were attempts at background tiles.
Here’s some images of the base 3d model. I posed it in various ways and painted over it to add distinguishing features like hair, facial features and clothing for the game illustrations.
This is an unused image of Versimilitude in the garden. The outfit is very minimal because I wanted to focus on the anatomy.
